A lady commissioned a birthday gift: a three-person portrait with the mother in the middle and her two children on either side, set in a rose gold case with gold hands.
Partway through, she felt the child on the left didn't quite look like her; that child had a very expressive look in the reference photo, which was a real test of technique and of reading the subject's personality accurately. The painting was revised, and she was very happy with the final result.
