Common Questions
Is custom work expensive? How much does a hand-painted watch cost?
- Enamel watches start from £1,500, excluding shipping and any import duties or taxes for your country. This is the line I'm building toward going forward.
- Hand-painted acrylic watches start from £800, on the same basis.
- Design your own acrylic watch and see an instant price estimate with the customizer.
- Total cost breakdown: The final cost includes the base price for building the watch, plus shipping and any applicable international transfer charges and customs duties for your country.
What's the difference between acrylic and enamel watch dials?
- Enamel is smooth and glass-like. It's built up through many successive firings, each one adding depth, translucency and color that acrylic can't produce.
- It also carries centuries of craft lineage and takes far longer to learn. Each layer is fired at high temperature, and a single mistake can mean starting that layer over.
- Acrylic reads closer to an oil painting: visible brushwork and texture, with more freedom of movement in every stroke.
- That difference in difficulty and material is reflected in the price: enamel starts from £1,500, acrylic from £800.
What kind of paint do you use? Will it fade? Is the watch waterproof?
- Enamel is the medium I'm building the brand toward: powdered glass, fused onto the metal at high heat. There's no pigment sitting on the surface to break down, the color becomes part of the surface itself.
- Alongside that, I still hand-paint the current collection in premium acrylic, finished with a protective clear layer on top for lasting color and durability.
- The watch is not made for swimming or showering, but it can handle daily splashes or light rain.
Can you paint on a watch I already own?
- Not at the moment. I only paint dials for the cases I've designed and built myself.
- I'll be introducing more watch models over time, so keep an eye out.
Do you only paint abstract or artistic styles? Can you do animals, portraits, text?
- I can paint whatever you like! :) Landscapes, Portraits, pets, handwriting. As long as you provide clear reference images.
- If I'm not confident about a request, I'll let you know upfront.
Is the movement reliable? How long will it last?
- The movement I chose is the Seagull ST2130, a Chinese-made automatic movement.
- You can also choose the Swiss ETA 2824 for your build. The Seagull ST2130 I use as the standard option is developed from the same architecture as the ETA 2824, at a much lower cost while remaining extremely reliable.
- It's based on over 20 years of engineering evolution, and one of the most reliable and serviceable movements used in custom watches.
- It's a solid, trusted choice in many enthusiast-grade watches.
-
Specs:
- - 28,800 bph high beat rate (smooth seconds hand)
- - 28 jewels, ~40-hour power reserve
- - Average daily error: within 5-10s
- - Hacking & hand-winding supported
How long does it take to finish?
- Once painting begins, the dial takes about 2-3 weeks to complete.
- Shipping usually takes 1-2 weeks, depending on location.
Can you ship internationally?
- Yes! The studio is based in the UK and ships worldwide.
- For remote areas, I'll find a way. Please feel free to ask.
What payment methods do you accept?
- I'll send an invoice to your email with three payment options:
- Option 1 (Recommended for US and Europe): US customers can pay via Wise, while European and UK customers can use Revolut. This is the most cost-effective method with minimal fees.
- Option 2 (All regions): Direct bank transfer is available worldwide, but please note you'll need to cover any transfer fees and currency conversion charges from your bank.
- Option 3: PayPal is also accepted, but requires additional processing fees and currency conversion charges.
What is your warranty or return policy?
- Each watch comes with a one-year warranty covering non-user damage (manufacturing defects, movement issues).
- For warranty repairs, I'll cover the shipping costs both ways.
- The warranty doesn't cover water damage, physical impacts, or normal wear and tear.
- After the warranty period, I still offer repair services at cost.
About Me
Hi, I’m Luca.
I design my own watches and paint them by hand. Every watch I make is unique. I want it to carry something of the person who wears it — memories, love, dedication, and the stories that make them who they are.
Every dial takes weeks. Every detail is a choice.
Through my eyes.
Through my hands.
Through my soul.
I draw inspiration from the Romantic and Symbolist painters of the 19th century, artists who treated emotion as seriously as reason.
I love capturing small details on a watch dial, details that may go unnoticed at first, but reveal something deeply human.
Gears keep time,
Art preserves it.
A watch is one of the most human things we’ve ever made. It embodies human intelligence through centuries of mechanical innovation, carrying human wisdom from engineering to craftsmanship.
Through art, a watch becomes something more than a machine. When it bears a personal touch, it carries a soul.
